JAZZ AND TAP CLASSES IN 2010

DANCE – JUST LIKE A SPORT ONLY HARDER!!!!'

Not only are dancers top athletes – they also use their athleticism for the sole purpose of entertaining an audience. Our 2010 jazz and tap programs recognize this and are structured in a similar way to sports training with a performance edge. We fulfill this outcome by offering every tap and jazz student a training class and a performance class in 2010. Sportspeople devote at least 2 session per week to their sport – one session for training and the other session for competing/playing the game – and our classes will be no different.

Each training class is sequentially graded which ensures that all teachers don’t just end up teaching what they feel like on the day. Students can progress at their own rate and are examined ONLY when they are ready to progress to the next level. Performance Classes are heavily discounted to ensure that all families, no matter what their circumstance can afford to give their children dance opportunities. Students are grouped according to age which encourages social interaction and formation of friendships.
Training classes are taught by
FULLY QUALIFIED dance teachers who have taken the time and effort to study for dance teacher certification through the Federal Association of Teachers of Dancing, Royal Academy of Dance and/or Australian Dance Assessment Program. Many also have university qualifications as well.
The only conditions that we place on enrolment in a performance class are:
Students must have an excellent attendance record as performance classes permit a maximum of 5 classes only to be missed in a year. This fosters commitment, persistence and discipline; as well as consideration for the other students in their group.
Students must wear the correct uniform to class with their hair in a tight bun Each student must be enrolled in a Training Class of the same style and wear correct uniform and hair to class. Teenage students who are new to the school may be asked to present a short dance to their teacher.
