Developed in the 1920’s by Joseph Pilates, the Pilates Method
is a unique exercise programme that focuses on integrating
the mind and body to gain and regain balance and control.
What makes Pilates different from other
exercise classes is the way that the exercises are performed. Pilates
exercises require concentration and attention to detail. The
exercises are gentle and are designed to be carried out slowly
and rhythmically. They are executed on a mat on the
floor.
Pilates classes will help to correct
postural alignment, strengthen your core muscles, and help
to increase flexibility and mental clarity. Pilates
does this through its eight principles of concentration,
breathing, centering, control, precision, isolation, flow
and routine.
At our Pilates classes, mats are provided for your convenience.
